Landscapes & Waterscapes Workshops

Course Overview

Our Landscapes & Waterscapes Photography workshops are designed for those photographers wishing to travel outside of Bristol to learn how to capture inspiring images from around the UK.

On these fun and practical courses, we’ll help you gain an understanding of some of the important photographic principles and techniques required to capture rewarding Landscape and Waterscape images. These principles will help transform the way you think about and take photographs and will help you use your camera more creatively and develop your photographer’s eye.

Our workshops are run in different regions of the UK and last from between 1 day and 1 week. We currently run these workshops on a bespoke basis and can suggest the most appropriate locations to visit depending on available time and budget.

Our one-day Landscape and Waterscape workshops are based around the Southwest of the UK at locations that are accessible from Bristol in a day. Depending on the time of year and exact location we will aim to capture sunrise, sunset or both when daylight hours allow.

This one-day course will help you to develop a good foundational knowledge of photography and provide you with a solid understanding of the effects that different camera settings can have on your images and allow you to start taking control of your photography.

We start the day at our chosen venue. Here we’ll review the basic concepts of photography, camera settings and discuss different camera equipment needed for successful landscape and waterscape photography.

We’ll then set off on a photo walk around our location putting all of the skills and techniques we’ve discussed into practice. There will be ample time to photograph the most interesting areas of the location with plenty of opportunities to discuss techniques, camera settings and equipment.

Depending on the location and time of year we will look for different compositions that we can return to for sunset if appropriate.

By the end of the day you will feel confident in controlling your camera and have improved your landscape or waterscape photography knowledge, skills and techniques.

Some previous experience of using a camera is beneficial though not essential. We can tailor the itinerary to suit each participant differing level of ability.

This course is ideal for those with an interest developing their photographic skills, knowledge and understanding.

All DSLR, mirrorless, compact or bridge cameras are suitable providing they allow full manual control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Mobile phone cameras don’t generally allow much control over these settings so only parts of the course will be relevant. If you have them then a tripod and filters are beneficial but not a necessity.
